The Historic Sunday House
Shady Creek was originally purchased in 1872 by Christian Crenwelge
at a sheriff's sale for the grand sum of $5.25. Crenwelge operated
a molasses press here and later built the original Victorian style
Sunday House in 1903. Located on the most scenic street in Fredericksburg
and a tourist attraction for decades, The Sunday House is the
ideal bed and breakfast experience. The long-leaf pine floors,
antique wood carved bed and period antiques are in keeping with
the rich German heritage of this historically significant home.
An antique French buffet, understated gate leg table, large armoire
and the marble top bedside and coffee table invite you to retreat
to a bygone era when the Crenwelges built this home. If you are
looking for the most authentic Fredericksburg retreat filled with
history, convenience, luxury and romance then The Sunday House
is the suite for you! Reserve the Sunday House for a romantic
retreat for two or reserve the Master Suite and The Sunday House
for a more inclusive family or larger group weekend and be privvy
to an amazing dining room with century old German china, crystal
stemware and an elegant chandelier.
